Sum it up! is an optional extra that doubles the cost of a Pick 3 wager. All you need to do is select the option when you fill in your playslip. Alternatively, you can ask the retailer to add it to your ticket. You do not need to pick any more numbers or do anything else. Sum it up cannot be played with Front Pair or Back Pair wager types.
After the winning numbers are drawn, the total value of the three digits is the Sum it up figure. For example, if the winning numbers are 123, it adds up to a sum of 6 (1 + 2 + 3).
To win a Sum it up prize, you just need the total sum of your three selected numbers to be the same as the sum of the three winning digits. It does not matter if you haven’t matched any of the winning numbers, if the sums are the same then you win a prize if you have added this feature to your play. For example, if you play the numbers 555 and the digits drawn are 933, none of the numbers match but the sums are equal.
There is not one fixed prize for Sum it up! The payouts are based on the odds of a particular sum being generated. For example, there is only one possible combination of numbers that could leave the total sum as 0 (000) or 27 (999) so the potential payout is much higher than for other values. It is possible to win up to $2,500 on Sum it up, if you’ve played a $5 wager and picked 000 or 999. This would actually give you a total payout of $5,000, because you would have also matched the numbers exactly in the base game.
Sum it up makes it worth considering your number combination when you play, and whether you want to choose a set of digits that could give you a better payout or a better chance of winning. If the sum of your numbers is 13 or 14, for instance, there are many ways that the winning digits could form the same sum.
